The Romanian Language and Cultural Center in Baku celebrated the 880 Nizami Year with a large event on December 21st, 2021, at Azerbaijan University of Languages.

The opening speech was held by the Vice-rector for International Affairs, dr. Jale Garibova.

The guest from Romania, dr. Margareta Aslan, Institute of Turkology and Central-Asian Studies of Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, presented on zoom a lecture about Yunus Emre, Nizami Genjavi and Ibrahim Muteferrika. Great scholars of the Turkish world in the historical cultural context of Romania.

Dr. Iosefina Blazsani-Batto and Seda Mammadli presented the Nizami – Ghazels Translation Project, EIKON Publishing House, 2021, Romania, and recited verses by Nizami in Azerbaijani and Romanian. The translation project started at the beginning of 2021 and the outcome is an open source volume of poetry published both in Azerbaijani and Romanian and illustrated with the magnificent mosaic works of Mikayıl Abdullayev.
